Modeler: Mike Hanson
Scale: 1/24
Manufacturer: Model Factory Hiro
Notes:

I've been working on a 1/24 Ferrari Testarossa in 1/24.  It's the 1958
pontoon-fendered car, one of my favorites. It's by a company in Japan called
Model Factory Hiro - their resin is very nearly Tamiya quality.  The body
and chassis is in resin, the hood, boot, engine, etc. are all in white
metal, and the wire wheels are just incredible - each are about 10 pieces,
with multiple PE inserts and turned aluminum rims.  Just awesome.

Well, I decided to get adventurous and re-do the hood and boot in metal -

something more to scale than the white metal (which really doesn't look all

that bad out of the box). After visiting with my friend at the restoration

shop, he gave me some ideas on how to fabricate them. After three tries, I

think I got it right. I've attached a picture - what do you think? Of

course, shortly after this picture was taken I sanded through the @#$#$%

hood scoop, but at least I know how to do it! Practice makes perfect, right?

:-)
