First minor irritation when the door hinges didn't fit. This seems
to be a common problem with these old kits but here the hinge
retaining piece doesn't even touch the outer skin of the body.
That's the red piece in the first pic. The gray piece is the inner
sill which goes over the hinge and is finished with the triangular
blanking plate. I'd prefer to be able to clear and polish these
separately and fit the doors at leasure so have changed the hinge
with three pieces of tubing and a retaining pin (pic2) - bonding in
the hinge with the door in place makes it quite accurate but it
tends to swing open very easily so I have some ideas for a catch of
some sort. Third pic shows where we are at now - all dry fitted and
very wobbly! You can see how the inner sill interacts with the floor
piece - I think it looks quite neat and I like the chrome kick
plate. Engine bay and wheels give some idea of final body colours
which are both Porsche colours by Zero paints from Hiroboy. I got a
delivery of some 2 pack clear the other day, which I haven't tried
before but am very impressed with the service you get from these
people. Two pack contains, clear, hardener and thinners,
instructions, three pipettes, four mixing sticks, small cup marked
in ml and even a latex glove! It doesn't get better than that. Will
let you know how I get on.
